PART ONE: The past few days I've been offline...reading,..of course about music, and a fantastic bassman too, you've all heard of...VICTOR WOOTEN? and HERE . Well, Wooten has a very enlightening book out called 'The Music Lesson'. It's a fun read, get it if you can. It's one of Steve's favorite books, he likes to give it to his students and first heard of this book from his teacher JEFF MORGAN/THE BASS JEDI from Tacoma and now I know why he enjoys the book so....very entertaining and teaches some outrageous ideas about music and it's magical uses in our lives without being a 'heavy' read. AND, makes us all believe in the power of music and want to get out there and make the world a better place by using these ideas while onstage performing and inspiriting and effecting the folks listening to have a better life  
BARTLETT and I have both always been  kinda 'magical', unlimited kinda guys and as radical thinkers and have really 'considered' and pondered some of 'The Music Lesson's unique ideas.. intending to make use of them in Steve's musical performances and with all of our relationships as well.
BARTLETT ON BASS has always believed he can make life better with music. AND, it shows when he plays...he's in heaven that's all.
With all of this effect on the listeners...there comes responsablity as well. Because music leads the listeners down a path...the good musician knows this

Because music leads the listeners down a selected path...and the good musician knows this and uses it in their music...that's why we 'cry' with a sad song etc....it's called 'entrainment' of the mind, that's what I call it when I'm in 'atonement' or one with the entertainer or performer.
But beware, if a performer's message...if YOU don't want their message in your life...don't listen to their music....because it will effect your life...it just kinda oozes in and becomes an acceptible and reasonable choice down the road for you. Advertisements are full of this too. Be alert and monitor what messages are being 'installed' in your brain...no one else can do this for YOU. Jan

About My BASSMAN BARTLETT...What's Up?

O.K.,  What's happening? Steve's making an appearance and jamming this week end, Sunday, Oct. 6th, 2013 that is. The jam's from 2:30 to 5 pm. @ TRADITIONS CAFE' AND FOLK ART, downtown Olympia. He's gonna meet his long time friend, MIKE KARNES/guitar there. Also, a B3/keys player named ANDREW JEAN GRAHAM. This will be great, lotsa fun. DON SUNN/vocals maybe there and DAVE FAIRLEY/drums has not said yet, but BARTLETT ON BASS hopes so.
Karnes invited Steve last week, wants my Steve to meet this B3/keys performer named Graham,.. O.K. ...thanks, Mike. BARTLETT also, had a message from Fairley, left him a return message and has not heard back yet. Don Sunn and my Steve went fishing a few weeks ago and got several delicious Salmon to smoke up. 'Boy, was that good.'...So, let's see what they can smoke up this Sunday  at the Traditions jam. O.K? Don's written several tunes. Cool. Jan reporting, over and out. SMILE.

O.K.,....Music stuff. MIKE KARNES, Steve's guitar friend from forever just called. 'Hey, you available on Oct.6th? It's a Sunday. There's a very cool B3/keys player named ANDREW JEAN GRAHAM, gonna be in Olympia @TRADITIONS CAFE' AND WORLD FOLK ART, it's downtown, you know. He just called. wanna go play? Music from 2:30 pm 'til 5 pm.'.... 'Sure', said Steve...BARTLETT ON BASS and KARNES both love the B3. So. write this down, the 6th of October, 2:30 'til 5 pm Steve BARTLETT will be making an appearance in downtown Olympia. Come on down, bring your axe, let's jam. Jan

Music...Where's ALL The Action?

Thought I'd better update everyone. So, what's happening? Let's see, On each Wednesday evening BARTLETT ON BASS is at UNCLE SAM's BAR AND GRILL in Spanaway. He's helping host a fun jam with JOE PLEMMONS/guitar/vocals and DON YOUNG/drums. This group is known as STRANGE PLEASURE...but, there's nothing strange about their awesome music. I got to go last week and had a wonderful time...I know you'll love it too. There's great food, cold beer and drinks too. Here's the menu..right HERE.
Now, RICHARD MOLINA/guitar called Steve, he booked THE MOJO BLUES BAND at THE SWISS PUB on Monday, June 17th. That's Richard on guitar, 'Mojo' or MARY JO TRYHOLM/vocals, HARRY LOGAN/drums, and, of course, with BARTLETT ON BASS. Come down and see the show. I'll get the time [8 to 10 pm] soon and post them. Today's another cool rehearsal day for the BARTLETT's. Because, for the next four days BARTLETT ON BASS will be playing and rehearsing with his music friends. AND, this Sunday, February 10th...He's  gotta big Private gig in Belfair, WA. with his music buddy,..The music instructor MIKE KARNES/guitar/bass, and  the atomic clock, ANDRE/congas...and, now WOW... maybe, their friend amazingSUNNY LOUDIN/vocals, will be there too, says Karnes. Steve's really looking forward to the gig. And, who wouldn't be. She's fantastic. They all are... Mike, Steve and Andre are very amazing too.
More of our music news: Tomorrow, Thursday night, BARTLETT meets with the bass jedi, that's JEFF MORGAN in Tacoma. So, it's the best on bass tomorrow night. He always comes home smiling when he sees THE BASS JEDI.
On Friday, song writer TOD LEMKUHL/guitar/vocals from WALTERs BIRTHDAY Emailed Steve...hoping that all the guys from their band called WALTERs BIRTHDAY could meet again at Tod's 'Dream Acres' in McKenna, WA. for some fun. We both love that awesome band...sure Tod...let's do it.
